Rally in memory of fallen Ukrainian defenders in Kyiv

Kyiv honors the memory of fallen Ukrainian soldiers on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, which has recently been celebrated on October 1.

Previously, this day was celebrated on October 14, but after the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church switched to the New Julian calendar, all religious and related holidays were moved 13 days earlier.

On this day, Ukraine remembers all defenders from the Cossack era to the present day.

It should be noted that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky asked all Ukrainians to stop at 9 a.m., wherever they are and wherever they are traveling—whether in a car or bus, on the street, or at home—and bow their heads in a moment of silence.

"A nationwide moment of silence will be on October 1 at 9:00 a.m. It is our duty to honor all the defenders of Ukraine who gave their lives defending the independence of our state. We remember. We remain grateful. As a whole country," wrote Zelensky.

Previously, a defender of "Azovstal" shared his military journey in an interview with Novyny.LIVE, and discussed how he is currently helping others on the international stage. During the ceremonial march "Honoring the Heroes", the serviceman also spoke to Novyny.LIVE about the tourniquet applying issue.
