In Kyiv, four women are undergoing training to become train driver for the capital's subway. The Kyiv Metro notes a shortage of personnel in technical professions and the lack of gender distribution in employment.

Representatives of the Kyiv Metro mentioned this in a comment to UNN.

Training women to be subway drivers

The department said that today, four women are studying in the group for training specialists in the profession of train driver. One woman also studied in the previous group and is now undergoing an internship.

"Currently, an internship is underway to allow independent work. The internship period is from one to three months," representatives of the Kyiv Metro explained.

They also emphasized that there is no gender division in the company and that they are ready to hire both women and men.

"Employment is carried out in accordance with current legislation, as well as subject to the availability of an appropriate level of qualification, passing a medical examination and a conclusion "Fit for work in the profession," the department adds.

The Kyiv subway also emphasized that in addition to train drivers, there is a significant shortage of other vacancies, including:

•    locksmiths,

•    electrical locksmiths,

•    electricians,

•    electromechanics,

•    painters,

•    escalator maintenance specialists,

•    drivers, etc.

As stated in the Kyiv subway, they already employ women as rolling stock repair locksmiths, electrical locksmiths for escalator maintenance and repair, electrical locksmiths for electrical equipment repair, electricians for electrical equipment repair and maintenance, electricians for substation maintenance, track and artificial structure patrollers, track fitters, freight train dispatchers and crane drivers.

It should be reminded that in Ukraine, women's salaries have increased during the full-scale war. This is due to the fact that employers hire women for high and responsible positions due to the high risk of men mobilization.

We also wrote that a program for training female bus drivers has been launched in Ukraine. Thanks to this project, 100 participants will be trained.
