Air raids and shelling — military results of 2024 in Kyiv

2024 was not an easy year for Kyiv, as it was for all of Ukraine. During the year, 500 air raids and numerous explosions were heard in the capital due to Russian strikes.
The military results of 2024 in Kyiv were summarized by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhiy Popko, in Telegram on Monday, December 30.
What happened in Kyiv during this year
Popko noted that Kyiv has not officially been included in the list of territories of possible hostilities for two years, but the war "reminds" of itself every day.
In total, 500 air raids were heard in the capital during 2024. The Russian occupiers carried out almost 200 air strikes. The enemy used more than 1,600 means of destruction of various types against Kyiv:
• more than 1,300 UAVs;
• more than 200 cruise missiles (Kh-101/Kh-59/Kh-69/Iskander-K/Kalibr);
• 24 ballistic missiles (Iskander-M/KN-23);
• 22 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles;
• seven "Zircon" hypersonic missiles.
"The most massive attack on Kyiv was a combined strike, during which the enemy simultaneously used 78 means of destruction, of which 49 were Kh-101 missiles and ten "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles. In total, in 2024, the capital withstood six massive and 14 combined air strikes," Popko emphasized.
According to him, these missiles and drones killed civilians and destroyed homes. This year, Russia damaged almost 550 residential buildings in Kyiv. As a result of the strikes, almost 120 people were left homeless. Popko emphasized that the state will rebuild everything.
In addition, the number of internally displaced people in Kyiv has increased by almost 11,000.
"The strikes on the energy sector forced us to save electricity and learn to live without electricity. For almost 100 days last year, Kyiv residents lived with emergency or stabilization outages. At the same time, the average duration of the absence of electricity for an average resident of the capital was approximately nine hours per day!" the head of the KMA said.
According to him, every day, with alarms, air, missile, drone strikes, intimidation by "Oreshnik" and other PSYOPs, the enemy tries to make Ukrainians afraid, since the one who manages to break the will and ability to resist wins the war.
Popko noted that Ukraine must fight and not give up. He emphasized that these are the main tasks for the next year.
"No matter how long our struggle lasts, no matter how long the path to our Victory is, we must find the strength and will to fight. And every time you read or hear news that spreads fear or makes you give up, think about who benefits from it. "Fight — you will win!" Fight every day! Donate! Support the Armed Forces of Ukraine! Support each other! It depends on each of us when we will achieve peace in Ukraine after our Victory!" Popko said.
According to him, despite the war, almost 21,000 children were born in Kyiv maternity hospitals in 2024.
It should be recalled, that Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klychko reported that 2024 was a year of significant changes for the metro. According to him, major repairs were carried out, and the cars were modernized.
In addition, on the night of December 24, the Russian occupiers attacked Kyiv with drones. It is known that the shelling led to significant destruction.
