Shelling of Kyiv — Russians damage several foreign missions

Six embassies of other countries were damaged as a result of a missile attack on Kyiv by the Russian occupiers on December 20. All of them are located in the same building, which was heavily damaged. 

This was announced by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Heorhii Tykhyi during a briefing on Friday, December 20.

Damaged embassies in Kyiv

Tykhyi said that today the Russians damaged the building housing the embassies of Albania, Argentina, Palestine, North Macedonia, Portugal and Montenegro. Windows, doors, and ceiling elements were smashed in the premises, Tykhyi said. 

"The attack on diplomatic institutions is an absolutely barbaric attack. It is a crossing of red lines and international rules everywhere in the world. With these attacks, Russia will only confirm its status as an absolute barbarian," emphasized the Foreign Ministry spokesman.

It is also known that the building is on the balance sheet of the Directorate General for the Service of Diplomatic Missions. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is already assessing the damage and working to eliminate the consequences.

Tikhiy added that there were no casualties among foreign diplomats.

As a reminder, powerful explosions occurred in Kyiv in the morning. Russia attacked the capital with ballistic missiles.

As a result of the enemy attack, 12 people were injured and one more was killed. Heating mains were also damaged in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital. A total of 630 residential buildings, 16 medical facilities, 17 schools and 13 kindergartens were left without heat.
